Zip A Dee Do Da...

This was just too cute not to share. Payton loves to belt this out anytime day or night... (Click on the arrow above to play video)

Playgroups

Playgroups are always interesting to me. Sometimes the moms want to hover over their children and be involved in their playtime. Other moms will sit on my kitchen stools and relax while chatting with the other moms and only tending to the children if they start screaming (usually over a toy) or are tugging at their pant leg. Personally, I tend to prefer the latter... although sometimes I have to hover if my child is the one doing the toy-stealing. Either way, today we had a playgroup at our house for 5 kids, and although it was noisy, messy, and at times chaotic... overall it was a lot of fun. Now that everyone has left and the house is quiet again, I am hoping that Payton will go down for a nap. Although he has already appeared in his doorway twice - once to go poop (valid) - the other to show me what Percy the train was doing to Thomas the Train in the book he was reading in bed (not-so-valid).

Looks like rain this afternoon, which requires me to come up with something to do inside with Payton this afternoon. I think we'll head up to the church and see how they're doing on the "big move to the gym." Can't wait to see what kind of progress they've made!

Dog Days of Summer

Man is it HOT here in Tampa. For you Northerners, imagine when a snow storm comes through and you just know that you won't be going outside for a while. That's how it is here in the summer. We just know not to go outside for an extended period of time during late summer, unless it involves a pool.

Payton has been swimming a lot this summer. He mastered it during our vacation with his cousins back in June and now swims like a fish whenever he gets the chance. He's also been busy with summer camps - including one where they had a pirate theme one day (see picture). School starts back up in about 3 weeks, so we still have lots of time for staying up late, swimming for hours and hours, and playing with friends instead of naptime. Speaking of... my little guy is just waking up from his short nap, so I better run. More to come later...

Welcome to our blog!

Welcome to our newly created blog! I finally jumped on the blog bandwagon after several friends had created them to share photos, etc. with their families. I hope that you find this useful and interesting as I share stories and photos of life in the fastlane with the Heckmans...
Enjoy!
