Annual Trip to the Pumpkin Patch

Yesterday was the day.
I didn't care that it was hot (like almost 90 degrees hot).
We were going to the pumpkin patch.
The boys had just gotten home from Tennessee that afternoon, and I had planned a fun family outing to take our annual patch pictures followed by dinner out.
We pulled into the parking lot and noticed a huge amount of cars, but not a lot of people at the actual pumpkin patch.
Then we realized that the adjacent church was having their annual "Blessing of the Animals" ceremony in their front lot. I tell ya, I think if we allowed animals in church, our attendance would soar! I've never seen so many people (and furry ones) attending a church service outside. It was awesome!

But back to the pumpkins...

We've been going to this same pumpkin patch since Payton was a baby.
And last year, was Parker's first visit.

So, yesterday, we made our way through the winding rows of brightly colored pumpkins and told Payton, "The better you cooperate, the faster it will be over." He agreed and gladly posed for 50+ pictures while his brother was over it after picture #3. Oh well, you win some, you lose some.

Here are some of the better shots:

This was probably picture #2. Parker was still cooperating (sort of)...

Then I tried to get a couple with him:
And then one with Brian (you can see the smile has faded from his face at this point)...
Until we let him run loose and pat on all the pumpkins like they were drums. Then he was happy again.
Of course Payton posed perfectly for every picture. I sometimes wonder why we ever stopped doing child modeling with him. He's so good in front of the camera!
My sweet boy...
And then Parker was officially over it.
So we grabbed a bunch of these little cuties and made our way to the car.
And off we went to dinner!
A successful night indeed. :)
