Naughty Little Elf

Percy the elf is really pushing the limits of decency these days. Last night he not only hung himself upside down from the ceiling fan... he also hung everyone's underwear* from the ceiling fan - including a (clean) diaper!!! This elf has got to be stopped!
  Is he laughing at me?!?!
Payton did get quite a kick out of this scene though, so maybe I'll forgive Percy this time.

*Hopefully Payton's underwear and Brian's boxers didn't offend anyone. They're all clean, promise. :) I figured since I write this blog I get to censor my own undergarments.

Big Day!

Today was a big day for many reasons.
First, our mischievous elf was found playing Payton's "Angry Birds" board game this morning on the kitchen counter top...
He was ready to launch himself right into those crazy pigs!
Okay, so maybe that wasn't such a "big" moment. But later that morning, we got a special visit from Brian's Aunt Bernadette (aka, Aunt B), his Great Grandfather and his Great Aunt! We were so thrilled to see them all, even if it was just for a short lunch time visit.
Even though he doesn't look super thrilled in this photo, Parker LOVED Aunt B! He snuggled right up to her and loved on her on the couch.
Then, later in the afternoon, we went to get Payton's hair cut and decided that Parker need a little trim himself! Aunt B told us that it's bad luck to get a baby's hair cut before his 1st birthday, so this was just a trim around the ears (to make him look more like a boy than a girl, according to my husband).
Here are more pictures of him getting his hair cut than you ever wanted to see.
Big brother is getting him ready for the big moment...
Payton was determined Parker needed to be held down during his trim. Then he got called away for his own hair cut, so Parker was "released."
He wasn't sure what to make of the nice lady who was so patiently trimming his hair...
Then he lost it, so I had to hold him while she finished. What a look he's giving! I can only imagine what he's thinking right here...
Hanging in there, but not happy...
Up close shot of him thinking, "Is this over yet???"
Big brother getting his own hair cut...

And finally... the pay off. His first lollipop!
Well worth the "torture!"
And now, I'm happy to say, he looks like a very handsome little BOY. As does my other little man. Sorry I don't have any "after" pictures for you. Parker threw a complete fit when I had to throw the lollipop away and so we scooted outta there as fast as our legs could carry us!

Toilet Paper Slide

Did you know toilet paper makes a great slide? Well, for an elf that is.
Percy went CRAZY last night in the bathroom leaving a trail all the way to Payton's bedroom...
"Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!"

Santa Baby

Should we enter him in a look-alike contest for Santa this year?
(He did this all by himself by the way. What a ham!)

 Ho! Ho! Ho! Meeeeeeeerry Christmas!

Elves, Nutcrackers & Candy Canes, oh my!

It's full-on Christmas time around here at the Heckman household. We had all sorts of fun this weekend, including another crazy visit from our resident elf, Percy. On Saturday morning, we found him "fishing" on our coffee table:

Also, on Saturday, we got a visit from my parents, which is always fun. My mom got to give Parker his first candy cane. It was so cute! At first he was confused by it. Then he tasted it, and well, you can imagine the amount of drool that followed! Both he and my mom were covered in red baby slobber. Too bad he kept trying to bite off pieces of it, because we had to take it away fairly quickly after that.
"Hmmm... what is this red and white striped object?"
 "This actually tastes pretty good!"
"Maybe I could bite off a piece?"
"Man, this is really good."
Saturday evening we went to see one our friend's daughters perform in The Nutcracker ballet. It was such a sweet show with all the little kids performing at their best.
Here is Payton all excited and jacked up on sugar from the brownie he got at the snack bar in the lobby:
Here is the best picture I could get of our friend's daughter as one of the angels in the performance:
This is Payton 10 minutes later:
Can you tell that he's asleep on Brian's lap? I couldn't use a flash, so the picture isn't great, but I had to take it. Guess I won't be taking him to see The Nutcracker every year like my mom and I always did when I was growing up. Maybe I can hijack my friend's daughter and take her? :)
Oh, and since I'm showing you some of my iphone photos... look what I found on there today:
Looks like someone had a little fun while I wasn't looking! What a cutie pie.

Midnight Mischief

There was some middle-of-the-night mischief going on around here last night. Apparently Percy the elf decided he wanted to play the Wii when he got back from his visit at the North Pole. But I guess he had a hard time deciding what game to play because this is what we found all over the playroom floor this morning...
And I guess he was hungry because he had a plate full of snacks including some Christmas cookies and Cheetos. Who knew elves liked Cheetos?!?
He also found a little partner to play the Wii with him...
This elf has sure got some tricks up his sleeve this year!

Magical Elf

We have a magical elf that appears in our house every December. His name is Percy. He is sometimes known as "Elf on the Shelf," but our wacky elf does a lot more than sit on a shelf. I'll try to document some of his more interesting antics this month as he reappears in a new location every morning after his flight back from the North Pole. Hopefully he's reporting lots of good behavior to Santa each night!
Here's where we found Percy this morning:

Repelling across the playroom on a candy cane!

Stay tuned to see more crazy pictures of Percy the elf!
